Greater Halifax Area Baby and Toddler Adventures (January 14-20, 2017)

Hooray for Fridays! This was a momentous week in our household as Mr. M started preschool this week. It's just two mornings a week but still a big deal as he's never stayed with anyone but us or my parents. So far, so good though! (me, though, that's another story...).

On to our round-up this week* for outings and adventures for our newest, and tiniest, Haligonians (ages 0-2, though some programs allow up to age five!).

*If you offer a program or event and would like to be included, please fill out this form.

REGISTRATION NEEDED

WEDNESDAY

Intro to Babywearing

This is for parents technically, but being able to wear your baby will make going on adventures with them all the more fun ;) The workshop is at Nurtured Products for Parenting at 6:00pm. The fee is $15 and you can register online here For more information about babywearing, check out this article where I interviewed the owner of Nurtured; it also includes a video of some common carriers and information on a place to borrow baby carriers.

DROP-IN PROGRAMS

SUNDAY

Family Sunday at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

"At this Family Sunday we will work on a group weaving with natural materials and create winter-weather paintings." This is an all-ages event from 1:00-4:00 (regular admissions fees apply: $12/adult, children under 5/free). The wee ones may not be able to participate too much, but it's a great way to expose them to an artistic experience, and then you can take a wander around the gallery (the folk art, and Maud Lewis' exhibit, is especially popular with little kids).

MONDAY

Breastfeeding Support Group

Every Monday from 11:00-12:00 there is a free Breastfeeding Support group at Nurtured Products for Parenting. This is a great place for support, advice and meeting other moms and babes at the same stage of life as you.

WEDNESDAY

WELCOME WEDNESDAYS AT THE MARITIME MUSEUM OF THE ATLANTIC

"Welcome Wednesdays are a ... chance to explore the Museum and engage in a number of fun, self and staff guided activities. We’ll have out our puppet theatre so little ones can explore their creativity and imagination, activity and colouring sheets, crafts and books in both official languages and Arabic for young readers. While reservations are not required, day care and child care facilities should call in advance so we can have enough supplies on hand."

This two hour weekly program runs each Wednesday through the winter and spring and is for ages 0-5 every week from 10 am to 12 noon. Kids under five are admitted free; adults pay the off-season admission rate of $5.15, seniors rate is $4.40, and there is an extra $1 discount for CAA cards and Forces families.
